Who is this olive oil for?
Perfect for those who love a truly intense flavour experience. About this Olive Oil
Sometimes a single bottle of olive oil holds the entire soul of a region. Rosmaninho Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil is exactly that.
It is born in the heart of Trás-os-Montes — a wild, rugged landscape in northeastern Portugal, where olive trees have been rooted on rocky hillsides and in fertile river valleys for over five centuries. The Cooperativa de Olivicultores de Valpaços, founded in 1951 and today a community of more than 2,200 olive growers, tends these ancient groves with a devotion you can taste. The cooperative’s Rosmaninho range has proven itself on the international stage time and again, earning both Gold and Silver medals at the prestigious NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition — one of the world’s most respected quality contests for extra virgin olive oil.
This oil carries the Denominação de Origem Protegida (D.O.P.) seal — the protected designation of origin that guarantees every olive comes from the strictly defined growing area of Trás-os-Montes. It also holds full organic certification: no synthetic pesticides, no artificial fertilisers — just sustainable farming in harmony with the land. Good for the soil, good for the biodiversity of the ancient groves, and you can taste the difference.
Three olive varieties come together to create this exceptional blend: Madural for its bold, robust character; Cobrançosa for structure and lively fruitiness; and Verdeal Transmontana, which contributes fresh, slightly grassy notes. None of the three dominates — they complement each other into something greater than any one variety alone.
The olives are harvested at peak ripeness and cold-extracted immediately, preserving all their precious natural compounds — antioxidants, polyphenols, and vitamins. The acidity of just 0.3% speaks for itself, well below the legal maximum for extra virgin classification, quietly confirming the quality of the raw fruit and the care taken in production.
In the kitchen, Rosmaninho Organic shows its full character: as a bold finishing oil drizzled over roasted vegetables, grilled fish, or a thick slice of good bread with coarse sea salt. As a confident base for dressings and marinades. Or simply neat — a small spoonful straight from the bottle, to understand why this oil wins awards.
For those who see olive oil not as a mere cooking fat but as a true ingredient with provenance and personality — Rosmaninho Organic is exactly what you’ve been looking for.
