Acco – The Ruby Red
Acco is quite different from Assaria. Open one up and you will immediately notice the deep ruby-red seeds and their rich colour.
It is a more complex flavour pomegranate, with a little more acidity than Assaria, giving it a fuller, more pronounced flavour as well as being an incredible fruit to impart colour to dishes and smoothies.
The colour is not just for show. The deep red pigmentation comes from naturally occurring anthocyanins, a group of plant compounds studied for their antioxidant properties.
Acco is particularly good for fresh eating, but its rich colour also makes it excellent for juicing, cocktails, desserts and adding a splash of colour to savoury dishes.
An early-season variety that brings plenty of colour and flavour to the table.
We only have around 15 of these trees, planted at the end of 2024, this is the first year that they have blessed us with a crop of stunning and vibrant pomegranates in very limited numbers.
